Don't Be Intimidated By The Sizing Code On Your Tires

Your tires take quite a bit of abuse while carting your vehicle around. So you will inevitably need to replace them at some point. In order to do this, it is a good idea to understand how to read the sizing code on your sidewalls.

For example, if your tire has a size of P245/70R17 then that translates to:

  • P = Passenger tire type
  • 245 = Tire Width. In this case the width is 245 millimeters.
  • 70 = Aspect ratio. This tire's height is 70% of its width.
  • R = Radial construction
  • 17 = Wheel diameter. This tire would fit on a 17-wheel.

As you can see it is not all that difficult to understand the tire's sizing nomenclature. If you have any other questions regarding tire sizing or tires in general then feel free to contact the experts here at West Side Mitsubishi.
