Things to do in Edmonton this Weekend!

May long weekend has come and gone. Don’t get bogged down with those post-long weekend blues, instead, why not celebrate! After all, it’s time for the unofficial kickoff to Alberta summers. This year, the end of May arrives bearing gifts rather than bad news. The weather this weekend looks to be hot, dry and perfect to keep those long weekend vibes going all the way to next weekend.

With that, if you don’t already have plans, here are a few things to keep you busy for this weekend.

1)    Parks

1280 × 720

Edmonton is home to some fantastic outdoor parks. Whether it be Hawrelak, with its gorgeous grounds, and ample space, rundle park, with its versatility and unique Disc Golf course, or Emily Murphy Park, with its proximity to the North Saskatchewan River and overall camping feel, the City parks offer a multitude of things to do and places to hang out with the family. This long weekend also marks the opening weekend of Fort Edmonton Park, which has endless activities and fun things to do for all ages.

2)    Go for a swim

4256 × 2832

May long weekend also brought with it the opening weekend of many local outdoor swimming pools. Two Edmonton pools will be open starting May Long weekend, Fred Broadstock, located in the west end (15720 105 Avenue), and Queen Elizabeth pool, located in the downtown area at the Kinsmen Sports Park (9170 Walterdale Hill NW). The weather looks like it’s going to be plenty hot so if you can’t make it out to the lake, there’s no better replacement then our local swimming holes!

3)    Eskimos Kickoff!

1600 × 1200

Its football season time in Edmonton. The Eskimos look to get a jump on their winning ways this Sunday the 27th against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. It’s a big year for Edmonton football, as we’ve been honored with hosting the 106th Grey Cup at the legendary Commonwealth stadium. Come this weekend to start the season off right and support the green and gold to a big first win of the year.

These are just three exciting things to do in the city this weekend, but if you’re looking for something a bit more relaxing, take a stroll down Whyte Ave, or kickback on a sweet downtown patio. We live in a great city, take advantage of it!

West Side Mitsubishi. Integrity. Reliability. Accountability.
