Mitsubishi Ranks for Reliability

It's no secret to us here at West Side Mitsubishi in Edmonton that Mitsubishi builds some fantastic cars and SUVs. Yet it's still gratifying when others recognize Mitsubishi's quality, value, and technology with awards. The latest Mitsubishi news comes from Britain, where Which? has bestowed awards on multiple Mitsubishi 2018/2019 vehicles, including some sold here in Canada such as the Outlander and Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), among others.

Which? is a British consumer rating organization founded in 1957 to help consumers to learn which products provide the best overall value, safety, and resale value. Which? is a completely independent, non-profit group with consumers' interests, and only consumers' interests, at heart. So we're not surprised to learn that they're impressed with the value that Mitsubishi vehicles offer to everyday drivers and their families.

The Awards

The first Best Buy award from Which? went to the Mitsubishi Outlander, which won in the category of Used Large SUVs. The Outlander achieved its first place rating because it scored five stars in the reliability category. The testers also noted that the Outlander delivers a spacious interior, comfort, and an outstanding level of standard equipment.

Which? also took note of the Outlander's stable mate, the Outlander PHEV. The plug-in hybrid electric vehicle won praise in the New Large SUV group, with its interior space and high level of standard equipment being noted along with its hybrid-electric drivetrain. Which? noted that its pure electric range offers tremendous fuel savings.

Ranked for Reliability

Which? ranked Mitsubishi seventh among all car manufacturers in its reliability survey. They noted, "Fending off mechanics everywhere, three quarters of Mitsubishi owners did not have to visit a garage in the past 12 months." In particular, they ranked Mitsubishi with five stars for reliability when its vehicles are between three and eight years old. Mitsubishi cars and SUVs clearly hold their value over time.

Other Award Winners

Which? also took note of a pair of Mitsubishi vehicles that are not (currently) available in Canada. The Mitsubishi Grandis won for Best Used MPV. ("MPV" is British-speak for "minivan.") Plus, the Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric vehicle won Best Buy among used electric cars for use as an electric city vehicle. Here's the good news about that: the i-MiEV was sold here in Canada until 2017, so you can in fact buy one used.
