Can You Apply Touch Up Paint On Your Car?

A car's paint job can suffer from all kinds of mishaps. Scratches and dings detract from an otherwise awesome-looking vehicle. Touching up the imperfections is one way to restore the car to its old glory. Applying touch up paint, however, requires more care than you initially think.

A critical step involves cleaning off the surface you wish to paint. Painting over dirt leads to disaster. Equally disastrous would be to choose the wrong color paint. You need an exact match. Ordering paint by cross-referencing the color with the car's VIN increases the chances of getting the best color.

Painting alone doesn't always work. Serious scratches -- especially deep ones -- require repair work before painting. Painting over a significant scratch won't come out nice. Things might even look worse.

Living in Edmonton creates a lot of opportunities for your car to suffer scratches. At West Side Mitsubishi, our service department handles small and large paint jobs and other fixes.
