Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Review

2014 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution For Sale In Edmonton, AB

Even before seeing Paul Walker shred the streets in a Lancer Evolution in 2 Fast 2 Furious the 4-door Mitsubishi sedan had a massive cult following. Within minutes of being given the 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution I was able to see not only how this car earned such a distinctive name, but why such a following had been created. After only a few days with the 2.0 L turbocharged and intercooled MIVEC engine capable of putting out 291 HP, Brembo brakes, Recaro leather bucket seats, and so much more; I was sold. This car has truly evolved from the preceding Lancer and Ralliart models and remains a game changer in its class. Heaps of power, great handling capabilities, and loads of convenience options make it a competitive choice between the Mazda Speed3 and Subaru WRX STI.

Available in a GSR model with 5-speed manual transmission or MR model with automatic Twin-clutch Sporttronic Shift Transmission (TC-SST) the Lancer Evolution comes standard with Super All Wheel Control (AWC) capable of toggling between three different terrain modes based on weather conditions. Snow, gravel, and tarmac modes find the optimal way to divert power to other tires when slippage is detected. Those purchasing the automatic MR model will not be disappointed by the TC-SST that comes along with it. Switching between Normal and Sport mode is done with the touch of a button, providing remarkably smooth shifting while still allowing the driver to feel connected to the vehicle with the option of paddle shifters or a sequential shifter. As an added bonus the Lancer Evolution also has a Super Sport mode capable of speeding up to 100KM/H in about 5 seconds. With three different automatic shift points available to match your driving style and mood you will have fun taking it anywhere you go.

To provide phenomenal handling to this 291 HP turbo machine Mitsubishi adopted Macpherson front strut and rear multi-link suspension further boosted by Bilstein shock absorbers and Eibach coil springs allow complete control at any speed. This suspension system coupled with 18" BBS alloy wheels, as well as front and rear stabilizer bars ensure a very confident and controlled ride

2014 Evolution Review in Edmonton

Further adding to the comfort is full premium leather interior on the MR model including Recaro front leather Bucket seats. With an interior that practically hugs you as you drive it feels as if the car and driver are one. A 7' LCD touch screen display with navigation, real time traffic updates, voice commands and more allows for easy navigation around the city. Everything from audio settings and equalization to Sirius satellite radio is accessible at your fingertips. Even more convenient than reaching over to touch the display is the audio and steering controls built in to the steering wheel. After a quick Bluetooth set up on your device you have access to phone calls, music, and more all from the steering wheel. The sound came out crisp with the 9 speaker Rockford Fosgate audio and a 10" subwoofer complemented the set up nicely.

Having such an easy to use central console made it so that at no point I found the Mitsubishi Lancer overwhelming. All of the extra bells and whistles which I desired were present with nothing that I found unnecessary. After considering this simplicity for a minute I realized that when designing the vehicle the engineers spent money where it should be, on the engine, transmission, and overall drive, and saved it where it needed to be. Though some say that the Lancer Evolution has a plain interior without many extras I have always wondered why extra buttons such as dual climate controls are even necessary if the overall temperature inside the vehicle is going to be the same anyways? With such a focus on the driver it's impossible not to enjoy yourself when taking this vehicle for a cruise.

By focussing on the driver Mitsubishi was able to create a truly unique experience for anyone taking control of the vehicle. Cornering at high speeds is a breeze and as previously mentioned with three differing shift points in automatic or a 5 speed manual available the only issue with the car is a grumble at 110 KM/H because it wants to be driven faster.

The 2014 Lancer Evo is a showstopper!

Those who are inclined will be happy to find that the Lancer Evolution still has a large modification community willing to fine tune and pump out all the extra horsepower the Evolution is capable of. Lots of easy modifications can be found with a quick google search and though any aftermarket parts are not sanctioned by Mitsubishi's warranty, the extra power may be worth it for the trade of. If left unmodified the 2014 Lancer Evolution in Edmonton does include 5-year/100,000 KM Powertrain limited warranty, 3-year/60,000 KM new vehicle warranty, and 5-year/Unlimited KM Roadside Assistance program.

If you're after a car that will deliver fun every day any day of the year in Alberta then the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is a great choice. With a 291 HP turbocharged engine, AWC, and great driving capabilities you will be able to push your vehicle to the limits in any conditions. Starting at a price of $41,998.00 and topping out at $51,998.00 the Lancer Evolution will not disappoint anyone with a thirst for speed.
